1. Aims:

Providing scholars, policymakers and other stakeholders a special opportunity to assess the current           situation in the South China Sea from an interdisciplinary perspective; considering and discussing measures to maintain peace and stability in the area while promoting regional cooperation.
2. Theme: “South China Sea: Cooperation for Regional Security and Development”.

3. Time: November 17th-18th, 2014.

4. Venue: Pullman Hotel, Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Da Nang, Viet Nam.

5. Participants:

(i) Scholars from the parties directly concerned to the dispute; (ii) Scholars from countries sharing direct interests in maintaining the peace, stability and cooperation in the South China Sea, such as: other ASEAN members, the United States, Japan, Korea, Australia…; (iii) Scholars interest in the South China Sea issue; (iv) Goverment officials from many countries; (v) Diplomatic Missions in Vietnam; (vi) Vietnamese representatives; (vii) International and Vietnamese press.

It is expected to have more than 200 participants at the conference, including around 70 international participants who are scholars or government officials from over 30 countries, territories and international institutions; and over 80 scholars and representatives of Vietnam. There are over 30 papers to be presented at the Conference.
