The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday announced its official statement to strongly condemn China for shooting on Viet Nam’s fishing vessel coded QNg 96382 TS.
The incident took place on March 20th when the vessel was fishing in the area around Paracel archipelago under Viet Nam’s sovereignty.
The shooting of China’s boats was a serious act, violated Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the archipelago, threatened and damaged properties of Vietnamese fishermen, said Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi.
This kind of act gravely broke the principles of international law and the agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of East Sea-related issues between the two countries. It also went contrary to the spirit of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
